Wow Massive Crowd of Over 50,000 at San Francisco California's 22nd Annual Walk for Life West Coast to Build "A Civilization of Love"
"A Civilization of Love": Tens of Thousands Gather for 22nd Annual Walk for Life West Coast
SAN FRANCISCO – Under clear blue skies on January 24, 2026, the streets of San Francisco were transformed into a sea of prayer and witness as tens of thousands gathered for the 22nd Annual Walk for Life West Coast. Observers noted that this year’s participation was the largest since the COVID-19 pandemic, signaling a renewed and robust momentum for the pro-life movement in the post-Roe era.
Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone was on the stage at Civic Center Plaza greeting the crowd. “Praise God for a beautiful day!” said Archbishop Cordileone. “It is always a joy for us to be together and bear witness to the goodness of life.”
The WALK FOR LIFE prayer vigil, with a large crowd, was held at St. Dominic’s Church, at 5:00PM Hosted by the Dominican Friars at St. Dominic’s Church. They held Vespers at 5:00PM, Mass at 5:30PM and Holy Hour with Confessions 6:30PM to 7:30PM.
A Youthful Witness for Life
The event was marked by a vibrant "culture of encounter," led largely by the next generation of the Church. Students from Newman Centers across the region—including Stanford, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, and Oregon State—joined the faithful from Thomas Aquinas College to provide a joyful, spirited presence.
"When I see the enormous crowd that we had today, especially so many young people standing up with love and hope for women and children, I am filled with gratitude," said rally co-chair Eva Muntean. "You can’t come to the Walk without seeing the promise of a better world."
A Call to Consistency
The Reverend Clenard Childress of BlackGenocide.org closed the rally with a stirring appeal to the roots of the civil rights movement. Drawing a direct line to the Declaration of Independence, Childress issued a firm challenge to those within the Christian community, urging a consistent and unapologetic defense of the unborn.
"You are the continuation of the civil rights movement," Childress told the cheering crowd.
Peaceful Perseverance
While a small group of approximately 90 protesters gathered near the rally site, and a few individuals attempted to obstruct the route, the San Francisco Police Department ensured the path remained clear. The Walk proceeded in the traditional spirit of the event: peaceful, prayerful, and undeterred.
As the 22nd Walk concluded, the message remained clear: the pro-life movement is not merely a political stance, but a mission of love and a commitment to the dignity of every human person.
