On the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine and the National Day of Prayer for Ukraine, the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations has published an appeal to the Ukrainian people, the international community, and religious leaders of the world.

Address of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations on the Fourth Anniversary of the Full-Scale Russian Invasion of Ukraine and on the Occasion of the National Day of Prayer for Ukraine

February 24, 2026 marks four years of heroic resistance by the Defense Forces of Ukraine and the entire Ukrainian people to full-scale Russian military aggression and the 12th anniversary of the War for Independence of Ukraine.

The war of aggression that the Russian Federation, in violation of international norms and rules, is waging against Ukraine, has brought the Ukrainian people numerous suffering, grief and losses, caused the deaths of thousands and thousands of Ukrainians, brutal violations of human rights and freedoms in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, including targeted religious persecution, the abduction of Ukrainian children, the horrific treatment of military and civilian prisoners of war, the destruction of cities and civilian infrastructure of our country, and caused the largest migration crisis in Europe in the 21st century.

With God's help, thanks to the strength of spirit of Ukrainian soldiers and society, the Russian aggressor was stopped, his plans were destroyed, and the foundations were laid for future victory and the establishment of a just and lasting peace for Ukraine.

The basis of Russian aggression against Ukraine and crimes against humanity lies in the chauvinistic and misanthropic ideology of the “Russian world”, the creation and spread of which is facilitated by the Moscow Patriarchate and other major Russian religious centers together with the Kremlin political regime. We once again call on intergovernmental institutions, international religious organizations and individual Churches and religious leaders to expose and condemn the ideology of the “Russian world” as one that promotes and justifies “holy war” and other crimes against humanity. Taking this opportunity, we express our gratitude to the Conference of European Churches and religious figures of various Christian denominations and countries for condemning the ideology of the “Russian world”.

At this time, we honor the memory of each of the defenders who gave their lives and health for Ukraine and offer prayers that God will strengthen and comfort their families. We express our gratitude to the Ukrainian soldiers and pray to the Almighty for strength for them in the fight for the defense and freedom of Ukraine.

We express our gratitude to everyone who contributes to strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and bringing victory closer.

We express our gratitude to all international partners who help Ukraine defend its freedom and democratic future.

We appeal to the Ukrainian people, to political and public leaders, asking them to remain courageous and faithful in this struggle of good against evil, to support each other, to be united, and to do everything necessary for victory and the establishment of a just peace for Ukraine.

On February 24, 2026, in accordance with the decision of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, a National Day of Prayer will be held in Ukraine. We call on representatives of various religious traditions in Ukraine and abroad to turn to the Almighty on this day and ask Him for victory and a just peace for Ukraine.

"God, the Great, the One, protect Ukraine for us!"

We invoke God's blessing on Ukraine and the Ukrainian people!
