Following Deaths of 6 US Service Members the Apostolic Nuncio for Kuwait says "The situation is serious and worsens day by day"
Attacks on U.S. Interests
The violence has targeted both diplomatic and military assets:
US Embassy (Kuwait): A drone strike hit the facility last night. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties.
US Military Aircraft: Two aircraft were reported downed this morning. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense has confirmed that the crews were successfully rescued, evacuated, and transported to local hospitals for medical care.
US Operations Center in Kuwait: An Iranian drone strike on a makeshift center killed six US service members on Sunday, marking the first American fatalities of Operation Epic Fury.
Official Response
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense is actively coordinating with U.S. forces to investigate the circumstances of the aircraft incidents and implement necessary technical safety measures. They have urged the public to rely exclusively on official government channels for verified information as investigations continue.
Religious Leaders Call for Peace & Solidarity
In the wake of these events, religious leaders have spoken out, urging calm and communal support.
Archbishop Eugene Martin Nugent, Apostolic Nuncio for Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain, issued a statement emphasizing the gravity of the current trajectory. Echoing this sentiment, Bishop Aldo Berardi, O.SS.T., Apostolic Vicar of the Vicariate of Northern Arabia, has called for solidarity among all affected populations.
To support the community during this time, the Vicariate is holding private Masses for Peace in the following locations:
Kuwait: The Co-Cathedral of Kuwait City
Qatar: The Parish of Our Lady of the Rosary
Bahrain: The Cathedral of Bahrain
Ahmadi: The Basilica of Our Lady of ArabiaThe situation is undoubtedly heavy, and the call for peace remains a vital counterpoint to the escalating military developments.
