Christian Celebrity Chuck Norris Passes Away at 86

The world has lost Chuck Norris, the martial arts master and star of Walker, Texas Ranger, has passed away at the age of 86 on March 20, 2026. Reports indicate the actor died peacefully in Hawaii following a brief, unexpected medical emergency.

Carlos Ray "Chuck" Norris (March 10, 1940 – March 19, 2026) was an American martial artist, actor and author. After serving in the United States Air Force, he won numerous martial arts championships. Norris began working in Hollywood as a martial arts instructor for celebrities before making his screen debut in 1968.

Carlos Ray Norris was born in Ryan, Oklahoma on March 10, 1940. His mother was of Irish ancestry, and his father had German, British, and distant Cherokee roots. Norris was named after Carlos Berry, his father's minister. He was the oldest of three brothers, the younger two being Wieland (1943–1970) and Aaron.

According to Baptist Press, His mother’s enormous faith was a great example for the young Norris. It was she who insisted the family go to church wherever they were living. Norris began a personal relationship with Jesus Christ at an early age, and he rededicated his life to Christ as a young adult when he attended a Billy Graham crusade. He and his family attended a Baptist Church, Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas.

He continued about his mother's influence, “She loves Jesus with all of her heart and soul and made sure we understood that [growing up,]” he said, following a book signing in Atlanta. “She influenced me spiritually and instilled in me a sense of responsibility that carried over in my later adult life. She always told me ‘God has plans for you,’ and I didn’t know what she meant. I think I do now.”

Norris married Dianne Kay Holechek (1941–2025) in December 1958 in Torrance, California. After 30 years of marriage, they separated in 1988 and finalized their divorce in 1989. They had two sons, Mike (born 1962) and Eric (born 1965). Norris married Gena O'Kelley, a model, on November 28, 1998. The couple had fraternal twins, Dakota and Danilee, born in 2001. Norris also had a daughter, Dina (born 1962), from an extramarital relationship.

A Final "Level Up" + Philanthropy

The star—who became a viral sensation due to "Chuck Norris Facts" about his superhuman abilities—had just shared a video of himself training for his 86th birthday last week.

Philanthropy - In 1990, Norris established the United Fighting Arts Federation and Kickstart Kids. The organization was formed to develop self-esteem and focus in at-risk children as a tactic to keep them away from drug-related pressure by training them in martial arts. Norris was known for his contributions towards organizations such as Funds for Kids, Veteran's Administration National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans, the United Way, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation in the form of donations as well as fund-raising activities. In India, Norris supported the Vijay Amritraj Foundation, which aims to help victims of disease, tragedy and circumstance. Through his donations, he helped the foundation support Paediatric HIV/AIDS homes in Delhi, a blind school in Karnataka, and a mission that cares for HIV/AIDS-infected adults, as well as mentally ill patients in Cochin.

The family has requested privacy as they grieve the loss of a man whose impact on film, fitness, and faith spanned over half a century. Please pray for the repose of his soul and for his family.
