Gabriel Fauré composed the Requiem in D minor, Op. 48, between 1887 and 1890. It comes from the shortened Catholic Mass for the Dead in Latin. (Video below the lyrics in Latin and English)
Lyrics in Latin: Requiem æternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis.  Te decet hymnus Deus, in Sion,  et tibi reddetur votum in Ierusalem. Exaudi orationem meam; ad te omnis caro veniet. Requiem æternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis.
