Pope Leo XIV Shared a Private Meal with his Augustinian Brothers the Day before Departing Algeria

Pope Leo XIV shared a private meal with his Augustinian Brothers the day before departing Algeria for Cameroon.
The Augustinians wrote:
As Pope Leo XIV continues his second day in Algeria, the journey reaches a deeply fraternal encounter—“how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity.”
After visiting the ruins of Hippo and the home of the Little Sisters of the Poor, the Pope comes to Annaba as a brother among brothers.
Here, he meets the Augustinian friars who serve as stewards of the Basilica of Saint Augustine, sharing with them a common heart rooted in the spirit of Saint Augustine of Hippo.
The encounter is marked by simplicity through a fraternal gathering before a shared meal. Together with Prior General Joseph Farrell, OSA, and Assistant General Martin Davakan, OSA, the historic visit becomes a living expression of Augustinian communion bound in brotherhood across nations.
The community in Annaba itself reflects this diversity by having Fr. Dominic Juma Habakuk from South Sudan, Fr. Shailong Leviticus Longzem from Nigeria, and the Rector, Fr. Frederick Wekesa from Kenya. Indeed, they are brothers gathered from different lands, yet one in heart and soul.
Also present is Fr. Augustine Ugbomah, serving in the Papal Sacristy, joining this quiet but meaningful moment of fraternity.
