March for Life Rome with Thousands Taking the Streets with Joy to Show Life is Precious

Thousands Gathered in Rome for "Choose Life" Demonstration Against the "Drifts of Death"

ROME — Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Rome on Saturday, June 13, 2026, for the annual National Demonstration "We Choose Life." Gathering to denounce what organizers term a "throwaway culture that kills millions of unborn children in the womb," the massive crowd marched from Piazza della Repubblica to Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano, concluding in front of the Basilica.

"...to the streets to denounce the throwaway culture that kills millions of unborn children in the womb, and we held politicians of all political persuasions accountable for their despicable push for a law on physician-assisted suicide in recent weeks," said Maria Rachele Ruiu, spokesperson for "Let's Choose Life."

"No society will ever be truly just and inclusive until everyone's right to life is guaranteed," Ruiu continued. "We cannot leave our children a legacy of a eugenics-based state that abandons certain lives, often fragile ones, passing off inhumane practices like abortion, assisted suicide, or euthanasia as 'just solutions.' Instead, we wanted to take to the streets with joy, to justify the hope that moves us: life is always a good thing, even when it is fragile, wounded, unexpected, or in need of support."

Massimo Gandolfini, the other spokesperson for the demonstration, highlighted the turnout and the core mission of the march.

"We launched a strong appeal to the hearts and minds of every person, especially believers, to dedicate a few hours of their lives so that the lives of so many small, weak, innocent, fragile people—so many human beings treated like waste and refuse—could have a voice and eyes through those demonstrating in the streets of Rome," Gandolfini stated. "Abortion continues to claim victims, assisted suicide is already a reality, and state-sponsored death is upon us. We could not close our eyes and turn away."

The event concluded with participants marching and singing together to celebrate the value of life. Organizers called the demonstration a resounding success, framing the defense of the most vulnerable against the "culture of death" as an ultimate act of love.
