The Universality of the Holy Mass - 5 Ways the Catholic Mass Unites Believers Around the World!

The Universality of the Holy Mass.
One of the most beautiful marks of the Catholic Church is her universality, and nowhere is this more evident than in the celebration of the Holy Mass.

1. A Catholic can travel anywhere in the world, enter a Catholic church, and participate in the same Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The language may be unfamiliar, the culture may be different, and the customs may vary, yet the heart of the liturgy remains the same.

2. It is still the same Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, though celebrated according to different liturgical rites, always in communion with the Holy Father and the universal Church.

3. Because the structure of the Mass is consistent, Catholics can easily follow the liturgy even when they do not understand the language. The prayers, gestures, and sacred actions express the same faith handed down by the Church.

4. The Church's universality is also reflected in her liturgical calendar. Catholics throughout the world hear the same Scripture readings each day according to the approved lectionary, allowing the faithful everywhere to meditate on the same Word of God and remain spiritually united.

5. In a world divided by language, culture, and nationality, the Holy Mass stands as a powerful sign of unity. It reminds us that although we come from different peoples and traditions, we profess one faith, worship one Lord, and partake of the one Eucharist as members of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
