Pope Leo XIV Sends Letter for Ukraine's Independence Day to President Zelenskyy and a Joint Prayer Service is Held - VIDEO

Ukraine celebrated it's annual Independence Day, on August 24, remembering the country’s 1991 independence from the Soviet Union.
A joint prayer service was held in the St. Sophia’s Cathedral for peace for the people, for peace for in Ukraine.
Pope Leo XIV sent a letter of prayer and support to Zelenskyy; two days after the pope called for a worldwide day of fasting and prayer for peace, on the August 22nd feast day of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The papal message was among numerous Independence Day letters Zelenskyy posted online from several world leaders, including Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney, U.S. President Donald Trump, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Chinese leader Xi Jinping, King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, King Charles III of the United Kingdom, Switzerland's President Karin Keller-Sutter, France's President Emmanuel Macron, and King Felipe VI of Spain.
POPE LEO XIV wrote:
To His Excellency President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy:
With a heart wounded by the violence that ravages your land, I address you on this day of your national feast.
I wish to assure you of my prayer for the people of Ukraine who suffer from war-especially for all those wounded in body, for those bereaved by the death of a loved one, and for those deprived of their homes.
May God Himself console them; may He strengthen the injured and grant eternal rest to the departed.
I implore the Lord to move the hearts of people of good will, that the clamour of arms may fall silent and give way to dialogue, opening the path to peace for the good of all.
I entrust your nation to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace.
