Pope Leo XIV Received the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel


This morning, January 19, Pope Leo XIV received the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, who then met in the Secretariat of State with Cardinal Secretary Pietro Parolin and Monsignor Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations. 
 Urgent commitment to peace 

During the cordial discussions, a statement from the Holy See Press Office reported, the good bilateral relations were once again appreciated and the will to further strengthen them was confirmed. The conversation then focused on issues of common interest and some regional and international socio-political topics, with particular attention to ongoing conflicts, and the importance of urgent efforts to establish peace and return to the principles and values ​​that are the foundations of international coexistence was emphasized.
  After the audience with the Pope, Petr Pavel had talks in the Secretariat of State focused on some regional issues, reiterating the urgency of a greater commitment to peace.
