A Conversation with Karolina Chapko, the Film's Actress Dominika Kordecka

Aleksandra Polewska-Wianecka: Karolina, or rather Dominika Kordecka – because you play a character with that surname in The Guardian – how did your life in the film become so incredibly complicated?

Karolina Chapko: I can't reveal everything, I'll just let you in on a secret. We meet my character at a crossroads in her life. Dominika is an ambitious violinist with big plans, dreams, and talent, who values what she's been given and wants to develop. She's also the mother of a wonderful ten-year-old boy and the wife of Robert, who, in her opinion, isn't entirely resourceful and isn't entirely capable of helping her realize those great ambitions. As I mentioned, we meet Dominika when she's facing a very important life choice. A man appears in her life who seems capable of providing her with what she doesn't receive from her husband. My heroine struggles with her emotions and, of course, with life, which, as life itself, ultimately reveals what's truly most important.

Aleksandra Polewska-Wianecka: Saint Joseph is not only the titular protagonist of "The Guardian," but also a real character in the film.
