International Association of Exorcists have Released a Declaration in Support of Pope Leo XIV and his Call for Peace, Prayer, Works of Mercy

The International Association of Exorcists (AIE), have released (April 19) a declaration in support of Pope Leo XIV. AIE was founded in 1994 by Fr Gabriele Amorth and Fr René Chenesseau. It has been recognized by the Church as a Private Association of the Christian Faithful.

The Courage of Pope Leo

A Shepherd for a Divided World

In the face of the dramatic global events currently underway, Pope Leo XIV, following in the footsteps of his predecessors, stands out for his firm condemnation of all war and his heartfelt appeals for dialogue. He thus authentically embodies the "courageous shepherd" that Saint Catherine of Siena, already seven centuries ago, hoped for and recognized in the Vicar of Christ.

Today, it is not medieval Christianity, but the entire world that is torn and divided, offering an unstable international landscape, wounded by terrorism and ever-expanding regional wars.

The Dynamic of Evil and Human Responsibility

We could, therefore, describe this divisive landscape as marked by a dynamic of evil that runs through history: in it, despite the devil—who Jesus called the "prince of this world" (Jn 14:30), the "father of lies" (Jn 8:44)—at work, there ultimately remains the moral responsibility of man, who remains free and called to choose the good.

To the responsibility and guilt of those involved in the escalation of violence, there is added a deeper crisis that touches the heart of man, wounded by sin and often incapable of recognizing Truth and Goodness.

Christ as the Foundation of Peace

In this context, the Christian message resonates with particular force: Christ is our peace (Eph 2:14), He who, through the sacrifice of the Cross, has broken down the walls of enmity and reconciled man with God and men with one another.

The International Association of Exorcists renews its filial closeness and support to Pope Leo XIV in the universal mission of peace and justice that belongs to the Church by mandate of her Divine Founder. In it, the Supreme Pontiff is the visible principle and foundation of unity (cf. Lumen Gentium, 23) and is also its supreme promoter, courageously and consistently guiding the Church in the service of the dignity of every human being.

The Mission of Reconciliation

This mission is, more profoundly, a mission of reconciliation entrusted by Christ to the Church (cf. 2 Cor 5:18), which is realized in Truth and Charity.

The Pope's prophetic words are constantly addressed "to peace for peace's sake," and differ from the hopes of those—as Saint Augustine writes in "The City of God" (19:12.1)—"who desire to achieve a glorious peace through war."

True peace is not the fruit of human strategies, but a gift from God and the work of the Holy Spirit, who renews hearts and makes authentic reconciliation possible.

Spiritual Combat and Concrete Action

As Saint Gregory the Great recalled, the true Shepherd does not flee from trials, but leads God's people with fortitude and discernment even in times of confusion.

We support the Holy Father's assiduous and painful commitment. Let us never tire of working for peace, first and foremost through prayer and beginning—from our hearts, our families, our communities—to promote concrete and sincere gestures of mutual forgiveness and authentic reconciliation with all.

To truly experience this journey of peace, we are called in particular to rediscover the value of:

  • Eucharistic Adoration

  • The prayer of the Rosary

  • Fasting

  • Works of mercy

These are concrete ways to build peace.

Furthermore, mindful of its specific mission, the International Association of Exorcists recalls that authentic peace is inseparable from liberation from sin and from the action of the Evil One, and that spiritual combat is an intrinsic part of the Church's journey through history.

May the Lord, through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace, enlighten the leaders of peoples and nations and grant humanity the gift of reconciliation and true peace, which has its foundation in Christ and its full fulfillment in eternal life.
